The traditional Lamb tubing spout is designed for use with a 7/16" hole drilled into the maple tree. The hole needs to be drilled 2 inches deep into the tree, and then the spout tapped lightly, using a hammer into the hole. When tapping the spout in use wrist action only as swinging the hammer and tap lightly until the hammer bounces back off the spout, and a "thud" sound will be heard. ***DO NOT OVERDRIVE THE SPOUT INTO THE TREE because it will risk splitting the tree. The spout has a barbed fitting to connect to the 5/16" drop line tubing of the maple sap tubing system.
