Steam Hoods for Maple Syrup Evaporators |
|
|
A steam hood will capture the steam generated from the boiling maple sap within each pan of the maple syrup evaporator. A properly sized thimble is installed in the top of the hood to vent the steam through a stack that should be installed straight up through the roof until it clears the roof peak. Hoods are made to fit tight to the dimensions of the top of each pan, but in some cases are suspended slightly for easier access during evaporator operation. Two access doors are installed for viewing and access while operating the evaporator. Additional doors may be added upon request. There is no significant evaporation rate gained from having just a steam hood on the evaporator.
Steam hoods are approximately 18-24" high with a 12" high thimble to connect the steam stack. Steam Hoods are required for proper use of a parrallel flow pre-heater and Steam Hoods are required in some states for operating a certified maple sugar house. |

Stainless Steel Steam (Exhaust) Hood
Price: $0.00 |
Stainless Steel hoods are made of 20 ga bright annealed stainless steel. This makes them extremely durable, and very shinny, matching the finish of our evaporator pans. All parts of the hood are tig welded with a pair of hingeing doors. Stainless steel hoods feature a leak proof drip channel around the inside rim of the hood to catch condensation that forms on the hood, and is drained through a 1 inch female threaded port on one corner of the hood. All hoods are made to order to fit any style and size pan. |
