The Flat Bucket Cover is attached to the spout through a hole in the top of the spout.  The flat cover has a hinge pre-installed.  To install the flat cover, slide the hinge out far enough so that you can place spout hole in the notched center of the cover .  Then carefully slide the hinge wire through the spout hole and then through the cover hinge.  When emptying sap buckets, the cover is left with the spout and not removed until the spouts are removed after the season has ended.
