BHR Releasers are the maple sugaring industries most reliable sap extractor.  The electric releaser is kept under vacuum all the time.  It is drained with a water pump (appropriately sized, see below) that is connected to the releaser and discharged into a maple sap storage tank.  Be sure the releaser is sized appropriately for the number of taps on the releaser.  If the releaser is too small the water pump will have start-up more often and during a high sap flow over flowing may happen. 

The fact that this unit is constantly under vacuum, your water pump will lose efficiency, to correct this problem your water pump should be slightly oversized.
